By: Crosby4hyg. on 25 Oct 10, 07:45:24 O'Reilly may or may not have realized that Colbert was satirizing him but if? he did realize it then he was foolish to try and make fun of Colbert. Colbert is a comedian, while O'Reilly's show is much more news oriented, (albiet with an extremely conservative twist), which begs the question of why O'Reilly would try to beat Colbert at his own game. I think a large part of it was his ego and the fact that the person he was interviewing was making him look like a fool half the time.

While you're correct in saying that I'm condescending to many conservatives, (including O'Reilly), I also won't go? so far as to say that all conservatives are uneducated because that would be absurd. The simple fact however, is that Stephen Colbert is a much wittier and more entertaining person to watch than Bill O'Reilly. I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings.

Being in character gave Colbert the edge in the exchange? because his sarcasm worked to his advantage; not only did it keep Bill calmed down but it kept Stephen a step ahead the whole time because Bill was oblivious to a lot of what was going on...
