By: 88s10Durango. on 14 May 12, 08:53:45 Your prop needs to come down about 5 to 6 "s , so make a new plate for the motor to lower it on the back transom , then put a large piano type hinge? on the top of that plate and bolt the plate to the boat , you`ll lower your motor and also be able to tilt the leg up a bit for transportation like a regular outboard , cheers !

By: pickleme101. on 08 May 12, 09:56:34 From my view in your video I wasn't sure but it looked like the engine mount plate will hit the right side pontoon area look at every thing real close before you start cutting. If it's too tight you may be able to fab a transom extension I could draw one out and mail it to you if you can find one? on the net. I havent looked myself but look at the back of most pontoon boats and that is how they mount the engine.

Hi Ronald. If your ... By: cameron300462. on 14 Mar 12, 00:04:42 Hi Ronald. If your putting enough resin onto your cloth when laying up, those holes should fill ok as? you put more layers on. Try lightly hand sanding each cured layer with 40 grit paper and dust off before you apply your next layer. Takes 5 mins and makes a huge difference to how it goes down. Also after youve cut your cloth to shape, remove it and brush wet resin on to where its going, then put your cloth on top and keep brushing. That insures your resin is under .... and over your cloth.

By: cameron300462. on 13 Mar 12, 23:51:08 And as far as your sealing the inside of your boat, Give it a? good coat of resin and a good thick brush coat of coloured flow-coat and that will seal it all up for you. Hi Ronald. Hows the ... By: cameron300462. on 13 Mar 12, 23:46:03 Hi Ronald. Hows the temperature where you are? Resin and hardener/catalyst mixture is set for working temp of about 25 degrees celcius. If its colder weather put a little more hardener in but at the same time be aware that it? will cut your working time down a little bit. If those pieces youve already done havent cured within 24 hours, put heat lamps on them and it will help them cure properly. The resin needs to build up exatherm to cure out. In cold temps, it wont do it. Sun will do too.

I don't think you'll have to worry about your boat sitting too low in the water. You can do some quick calcs to get a rough estimate though. Floatation is just displacement of water, so figure out how much your boat, motor and you weigh and then? figure out how many cubic inches of water that is and you can calc how deep your boat will sit.

Good to see the ... By: pickleme101. on 02 Feb 12, 00:48:34 Good to see the progress. just a few observations. The two brackets at the back where the steering is fastened may need to be a little heavier duty. when a boat steering cable breaks or slacks the torque of the motor on most outboards will turn the motor to the left forcing the boat to the right. the only video example i could find of this is at sopchoppy68 titled maxwells boat wreck. I know he? is going fast but the physics are the same. Your boat can throw you out and possibly run you over
looks good, also as ... By: swabbster3. on 02 Feb 12, 00:44:58 looks good, also as a safefty add a kill switch and if your throttle does not work i think it would be cool to have a pull throttle like old school trucks how the choke is manual like that but hooked to the throttle. but you have been doing a great job? on that boat i would like to build something like that but i dont have the space.
oh yea and funny ... By: ronaldhotboy. on 01 Feb 12, 01:17:37 oh yea and funny you mention the throttle, the setup i HAD was meant to be used after it was reinforced (fiberglass). While I was playing with the steering today, one of the two pivots broke! So that must've been a sign (listen to the swabbster) lol im? looking for the lawn mower throttle now. Thanks a bunch!
yea you're right, ... By: ronaldhotboy. on 01 Feb 12, 01:12:39 yea you're right, the remote choke idea was meant for the first design i had (9ft boat): cause i didn't want to leave my? seat to adjust the choke. But you're right, once you get these motors running the first time, they'll start on the first pull afterwards. Thanks
there is no need ... By: swabbster3. on 31 Jan 12, 23:30:15 there is no need for the choke because you would warm the boat up on land and once it is in the water you dont need to choke it itll start fine not like you would be boating in cold weather. if you go to most auto parts stores they will have? remote choke cables but you could use it for your throttle attach it to the wood upright support by the joysitck or hook it to the choke but pushing the joystick im sure it would get anoying after an hour on the water

hey ronald why dont ... By: cameron300462. on 13 Feb 12, 06:32:58 hey ronald why dont you have 2 small sprockets fixed to the rear of your boat, forward of centre of your larger centre sprocket and worm them through. the more forward they are , the more tension you should be able to keep on your chain and it will force the chain to have more teeth in contact with the large sprocket at all times. not enough tension or contact is your main problem from what i can see. if you look at the main sprocket on a bike,? 3/4 of the diametre is always in contact with chain

you need positive ... By: pickleme101. on 30 Jan 12, 09:58:40 you need positive tension on? your steering cable. I It's the slack that is causing the chain to fall off. I am thinking a few pullys and either springs on each cable. properly adjusted the handle will return to center on its own. On an airplane the rudder is held center by two springs attached to the rudder bellcrank. The plane turns by overcomming the spring tension on the left or right. the steering cables stay on the pulleys because they are under tension by use of adjustable turnbuckles

thanks, that sound ... By: ronaldhotboy. on 17 Dec 11, 04:57:21 thanks, that sound is the chain rubbing against the top of the leg (need to bend it back). And I'm not? done fabricating the back end yet (need to conduct more test). Once again thanks for your concerns I really appreciate it.
that looks cool why ... By: swabbster3. on 17 Dec 11, 04:16:49 that looks cool why does it make that wining sound? you should grese the bearings and oil the chain. it looks to be open? so water will just go in the tail you should seal it up so no water gets in the bearings and keeps water off your chain to prevent rusting.
hmm, i think ... By: misurclean. on 04 Dec 11, 09:54:01 hmm, i think windows movie maker has an HD function, that should help with the quality of that? camera a bit

i figured the prop ... By: ronaldhotboy. on 01 Feb 12, 01:21:30 i figured the prop was going to have the same rpms as the engine, but i aslo thought that since the prop? is so small, that it wont be as effective......What you think?
ya im going to tell ... By: swabbster3. on 31 Jan 12, 23:47:28 ya im going to tell you ur boat is going to go really fast from your other videos bothe the clutch and bottom sprocket are almost the same size so 1 to 1 that means ur prop is going to spin the same as the? motor max 3600 rpm

Oh wow, thanks a lot. Hopefully the weight of? the motor will drop it to the proper depth.but if not im LOVING the piano hinge idea!
By: ronaldhotboy. on 20 May 12, 16:33:25
OMFG! you are so amazing bro! thanks a bunch! I've been working a lot lately so i havent had a lot of time to work on the leg. Once we test it out with the motor on, then ill make a decision. Thank? bro!
By: 88s10Durango. on 14 May 12, 08:53:45
Your prop needs to come down about 5 to 6 "s , so make a new plate for the motor to lower it on the back transom , then put a large piano type hinge? on the top of that plate and bolt the plate to the boat , you`ll lower your motor and also be able to tilt the leg up a bit for transportation like a regular outboard , cheers !
By: pickleme101. on 08 May 12, 09:56:57
Continued: moving the motor back will raise the nose a bit? but could be off set wiit a 5# balast weight in the nose VS adding a bunch of weight to her lower in the water. Waitiing for update
By: pickleme101. on 08 May 12, 09:56:34
From my view in your video I wasn't sure but it looked like the engine mount plate will hit the right side pontoon area look at every thing real close before you start cutting. If it's too tight you may be able to fab a transom extension I could draw one out and mail it to you if you can find one? on the net. I havent looked myself but look at the back of most pontoon boats and that is how they mount the engine.

By: CCSinventions. on 06 May 12, 05:06:15
true.. haha but for testing purposes sand is only couple bucks a bag then you will know? how much you will need in weights
By: ronaldhotboy. on 06 May 12, 01:45:35
That was the plan bro, but she doesnt trust it at all; even when i showed her the float? test vid, she swore that i was only in 1" of water lol
By: ronaldhotboy. on 06 May 12, 01:39:50
That? could work too, probably would be better than gym weights
By: misurclean. on 04 May 12, 05:11:01
lookin good man, i'd prob just got the transom? down a bit, or talk the g/f into going for a float test, and see if the two of you can sink it enough...
By: CCSinventions. on 04 May 12, 04:15:55
if? it's too high you could buy some sand bags and put em in the back to weigh it down a little
