Two weeks into roping... miss twice and nail it on the third try. Figured it wouldn't hurt to show a miss or two. Like always, if you have form critiques, let me hear it. Its the only way I'm going to know to get better. Throwing a Classic Money Maker heel rope, Medium Soft. Its left handed, which has made a huge difference for me as far as feel and keeping my loop open during the swing.
Dude I really ... By: caponeros. on 19 Apr 12, 10:38:58 Dude I really understand you I am an amateur team roper, left handed also, I have gone to quite some rodeos but in the mexican state of sonora, being a lefty in team roping isn't very fun, first of all the horse are all made for right handed, so in order to rope good and enjoy it at the same time, you gotta find a left handed horse trainer, which is not easy, but let me give an advice, your? swing needs alot of work in it, belive I spente hundreds if not thousands of hours working on my swing
Using a different rope... Classic Money Maker heel rope, MS lay, so a little stiffer than the rope I was using (Cactus Bad Boy #2 head rope, XS lay). Biggest difference is the honda is left handed... easier for me to keep the loop open, and just feels better when I swing it. Good luck finding a lefty rope in any ranch stores though, lol. I was lucky this one was there.
me practicing roping on my sawhorse in the garage. If you have any critiques and you KNOW roping, please offer them and I'll work on them. I know this is really raw and I've been doing this for only about a week so let me know. Negative bs will probably be deleted but I can handle constructive criticism. I know its not perfect so give me something to work on.
capitol one new orleans commercial on my big screen at home. Just took the video with my T Mobile MyTouch 4G phone. Can't find this commercial anywhere on the internet so when it ran across the screen, paused DirectTV and took the vid.
Just out of the blue, this storm blew in. One minute it was warm and raining and then it was cold and everything was getting covered up in snow. Gotta love Utah.
My dog Buddy making a retrieve on one of the spoonies I shot. It is a Hen Spoonie. The last bird he fetched was a GW Teal but I was too cold at that point to do video. He's a good dog and did well even though the water and the air temps were freezing cold. I apologize for the mixup on the birds.

We're in Utah. ... By: Rivrrat77. on 31 May 11, 13:33:36 We're in Utah. Thats just out on the flats long the Great Salt Lake. Pretty? decent hunting sometimes. There are some freshwater inflows that hold the Mallards and other puddlers as well as some duck clubs and WMA's that the puddlers bail on when the freeze occurs.

By: Rivrrat77. on 23 Sep 10, 22:22:50 .....There are mallards... but they're either over by SaltAir on the Kennecott ponds or all the way over by the clubs/Farmington on some freshwater flows. Gotta hike a ways but you can get a shot at some late season. Saw some GE's last year, a couple geese here and? there and lots of swans late in the season. Don't see many divers on the south end unfortunately... at least not where I was at.
yeah we limited out ... By: jakeallred1270605. on 06 Aug 10, 20:16:36 yeah we limited out every time we hunted out there. although spoonies are pretty much trash ducks they are still way fun. and if you cook em right they are ok.? i have heard of pintails getting killed out there too.
I was out there ... By: slymanbry. on 29 Jul 10, 17:28:27 I was out there last November with Rivrrat77 and we had a nice drake gadwall buzz through as we were cleaning up? the dekes. You don't see too many puddlers out there, but if you don't mind shooting spoonies, and can be patient for the teal, its not a bad deal.

Nice fish, Trout ... By: Gantzer1. on 03 Dec 11, 01:04:15 Nice fish, Trout releases are devastating native minnow populations over here in Australia but they fetch a? good price so the god damn fisheries keep releasing em while they complain about carp? Live Minnow fishing is the easiest way to get dinner for the night if your chasing the rainbow trout I dont know why so many people get such a hard on for saying you should only use fly fishing for that method. If its dinner its the easy way not the hard.

The trout certainly don't seem to mind and I'm not out there to fit some "manly"? mold others think I should have to fit to be able to fish well. Honestly, opinions like yours are what keeps me from even trying fly fishing.... god forbid I turn into some uppity douche who thinks fish shouldn't be caught if its not my way.

I didn't fish it at ... By: Rivrrat77. on 19 Apr 11, 20:04:02 I didn't fish it at all last summer and have heard that the weed growth in there is really taking over. When the ice cap on the reservoir thaws, they release a bunch of water (lacking in oxygen) out the bottom of the lake and it seems to kill off a bunch of the fish in the stream as well so the word is that the fishing has suffered. Used to be one of my favorite places? to go... now... not real sure I'm in a hurry to go back.
These are mostly ... By: Rivrrat77. on 19 Apr 11, 20:01:08 These are mostly wild? fish. This stream is a tailwater from a dam a couple miles upstream from there so occasionally some of the stocked trout in the reservoir above wind up in the stream. You can get some pretty hefty bows occasionally and there were starting to be more tiger trout showing up as well. Sadly, whoever controls the runoff from the dam has let the flows become a trickle over the last couple years.
If I remember right ... By: Rivrrat77. on 19 Apr 11, 19:58:29 If I remember right, the rod was my G-Loomis 6 1/2 foot light action spinning rod and the reel is my trusty Shimano Sahara spinning reel. Sadly, I lost that rod, or at least the? top half while float tubing in the mountains last summer. Bummer... it was a great rod.

By: jamiekfc10. on 19 Apr 11, 19:50:01 are all these fish wild, in our rivers in scotland they are usually stocked? and just reel in like theres nothing on the end of your line. i was recently fly fishing on a loch and caught a small wild brown anout 11 inches and it fought like crazy.

All I ever see is people fly fishing for them. Is it because its against the law to do otherwise? I've always dreamed about taking a size 3 gold spinner or a plastic bass minnow like I was throwing? in this video and seeing how the fish react to that over there. Probably never going to happen unfortunately... it'd make for one hell of a tv show I'd bet. :-)

They've drawn down the water a lot in that stream so it would actually be a decent fish these days. There are some holes where 20 inch + fish can be caught but you have to cover some ground to get there.

It was a guy named Richard that I used to run around with. I've got some more vids somewhere of him catching some browns that jumped clean out of the stream. We had a good time that day. Depends on where you're at and what the regs are but usually I can catch fish on a gold blade Mepps or Blue Fox in a #2 size...? just cast upstream and bring it down with the current. Its about the easiest way I know of to catch trout on hardware.
