From what he told ... By: ozaerr. on 09 Feb 12, 02:09:14 From what he told me, the ticking sound is the? valves and the timing belt is 'warping'...needs replacements. So the standard timing belt replacement kit has the belt, the tensioners, and they all get replaced. I had a private mechanic change it for me, that I met at a TDI get together here in Portland....but if yours is making that same sound in that region, chances are your timing belt needs to be changed ASAP.

Was the belt itself fraying and slapping against something? Did you change the belt or a shop do it for you? Some forums have a number of different problems it could possibly be.
