getting closer, though I may need a completely different black background and lighting set up and preferably mor space than is currently in my basement. this is play at 50% speed, 60% opacity with 16 layers stacked and spread, with bottom advancing 5 frames continuous. this effect still looks fun and would be great to apply to either a dancer or Martial artist in the right settings.
I've been trying to recreate that Norm Mclaren dancer effect, so far this low light method doesn't seem to work too well, hoever if you shoot the layers in 3s you get a ver robust effect, not the same thing but its cool!
okay, after loosing the origenal piece due to a faulty hard drive, I managed to find the origenal source tape and worked from scratch to recreate and remaster this old film school gem.

no, actually this was all Final Cut and some clever camera tricks, its was shot on? film, then transfered. this was before I knew jack about after effects, but it can still be done with that program.
yeah, i think the third roomate, john, came off the best. directing him was easy.
