Granted, I have slave drives hooked up, because the memory I used exeeded that of the Maxtor's years ago, but my WD backups have failed before my Max has, and so have my slave drives. And I have the 80 gig IDE. NEVER has? it malfunctioned, or even BSoD'd due to a virus. It's been working beautifully, as have the rest on seperate towers, for 11 years.
