Otherwise it's pretty cool.

I love blender, it's a great all around app, but zbrush is a completely different animal. It combines sculpting and painting in a way that's very artist friendly. For? example, when creating a rusted metal panel texture, in the past I would start with a photo, but zbrush allows me to paint and sculpt to create a great look from scratch. It's a very nice program for textures.

Been working constantly on this for the past week. The first several days were spent working in zbrush, to get the sculpting and polypainting down. Then I retopologized in Blender, over the course of three days. Then I brought all of the subtools over to blender and baked individually to the low poly.
Hope you like it! I'll probably do an animation with him at some point.

A quick video just as an update about what I'm working on. A splinter cell-esque spy game character. The base elements were modeled in blender and imported as subtools. The only sculpting so far is on the head and mid section of the body base layer.

A zbrush sculpt made mostly to familiarize myself with zspheres, which most of the subtools were made with. The polypainting in some places is pretty low res, because these were the highest subdiv level I could get to without my computer protesting. I tried HD geometry, but that crashed zbrush a few times. :P

I made this a long time ago, but I thought I'd post it now. It's a gun and camera movement setup that works pretty well. I don't know any real programming, so it doesn't do anything other than turn and fire, but I think it looks good, and that's all I was really going for. :P

Thought I'd post this quick proof of concept I made to demonstrate a potential method to handle the survey island map room.
The poly count is 1029. The basic method uses one low poly mesh (baked from a low poly), emerging from a plane.

He could get through something like this in 2 or 3 minutes because he didn't actually make it in the video, he just explained how everything worked together.
That's a really effective way to show things off. I'd love to see how you did this, because it has other applications.

Rather than for instance modeling and rendering every individual pin, or attempting to have the map "morph" into different configurations you create a simple terrain model? and push it up through a "plane" which represents the unactivated pin table.
Combined with normal and/or displacement maps it creates a fairly convincing effect. The only tricky bit is making all the models and scripting the thing.

This is a sculpt of a hand I did for a character. The final model was 2.5 million polys, and took about 4 days to make. The hand was intended to be of a mid forties male, with the skin tone and features of a native american. This video was made with zbrush's endearingly infuriating (like all of zbrush) timeline feature.

This looks really awesome! I can not wait for Part 2. I like how the male character looks almost rock-like. Was the well a torus with a rock texture and Normals effecting the mesh or did you model the well from scratch, either wayI thought the well was cool. Keep up the? great work!
