This video is from my 1992 "appearance" on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Nothing to do with personal finance but fun to see how young everyone looks.
You'll see me at the bottom of the screen. Thanks to Lewis for the funny story. I wonder where he is today.
I took this video off the TV with my iPhone so the quality is bad...I'll get a better one up someday.

By: LucianMelb. on 03 May 12, 22:36:42 Indeed, been thru a period that I had to deal with quite a few debt collectors and I found out that talking to them, being honest and make some payments, even if not what they want, can go a long way. But, I only have one? debt now and it's not even the biggest I ever had. The debt collecting agency handling it is the worst of the worst. Everytime I talk to them makes me feel like scum and I feel like the situation is deteriorating rather than getting better, so the rule TALK TO THEM, doesn't work
NEVER EVER MAKE A ... By: colescreditrepair. on 27 Oct 10, 23:11:46 NEVER EVER MAKE A DEAL WITH THE PREDATOR DEBT COLLECTORS! YOU NEVER HAD A CONTRACT WITH? THEM, WHY PAY THEM? YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED!

Take that credit card and cut it up.
CALL THEM and cancel the account.
Don't just stop using it because they are currently working on a new penalty charge for "NOT USING" your card.
They WILL get the message when 40 million people call them up and say NO.
They wont have a choice but to fix it.
When your? money stops flowing into their pockets. They will hear you.
No? violence. No weapons. No lawyers.
Just stop using the card and they WILL FOLD
Easy as that.
Good points about ... By: luckyvet. on 15 Jan 10, 17:15:15 Good points about not 'solidly' confirming a date, it is a verbal contract that is recorded. That said,? its extremely unlikely they'll bring litigation towards you unless you cease payments altogether? & its a large loan amount.
Truth: The biggest ... By: luckyvet. on 15 Jan 10, 17:10:02 Truth: The biggest key when you owe money is constant communication. They keep a record of it all and will work with you with? great flexablity for 1 reason:
- They don't want you to go bankrupt
- Its not usually cost effective for them to sue you
If I call my ... By: thenekom. on 07 Feb 09, 17:01:52 If I call my mortgage company to schedule an on-time payment, they say that they are a debt collector. Because they SOMETIMES act as a debt collector, they put that notice in there, sort of a CYA move (cover your ...). So that alone does not suggest that it's a third party collector. You are right though, even if you are only a single day late,? a creditor could sue you and/or execute any number of attempts to collect. Most of course don't.
First part of the ... By: parkplaceprincess. on 07 Feb 09, 02:33:31 First part of the call, "i need to inform you that we are debt collectors and any information obtained can be used to collect a debt and this is an attempt to collect a debt." Secondly, Analog Hole, creditors can still arbitrate you and seek judgments on any assets, and pursue legally whatever? necessary regardless of payment history. Thanks for playing, though.

I'd be interested to see how he does trying to get the interest rate on? an existing balance reduced. Would that work as well?
