I meant to say ... By: jmadden184. on 11 May 12, 22:12:30 I meant to say 6,500K, I put 6.5K thinking "K" as 1000, so 6.5K = 6,500. My mistake. As long as the nuisance algae is confined to the fuge and? not the display tank I would say the refugium is doing it's job :).

Not at all arguing ... By: Nomimasubiru420. on 11 May 12, 21:30:33 Not at all arguing with you madden, your tank speaks for itself =) but everything I have read says a 6,500k light will work better than a 10k, if you think about it, a 6,500k bulb grows nuisance algae like? crazy which is why people go for 10k, the same goes for macro algae though. I have also read a lot about coral farms growing coral under 6,500k lights to make it grow fast, then they put them under 20ks for a bit to color them back up.
Great to see ... By: jmadden184. on 11 May 12, 19:46:42 Great to see everything doing well after the transfer. I'd recommend getting yourself a light that is? more in the 6.5K range for your refugium, it will grow your cheatomorpha macro algae like no body else's business! The macro algae will grow so well that it will out compete the nuisance algae, which is what we want to happen. Hope this is helpful.

Looks like some ... By: jmadden184. on 11 May 12, 04:28:47 Looks like some kind of predatory flat worm or nudibranch. If it is eating your copepods I would remove it. You don't want something that is going? to eat beneficial critters running a muck in your refugium and tank. It's pretty cool all the random and diverse life that shows up in our systems that's what has me hooked on this hobby.

Moving your MP10 higher to agitate the water's surface will help with gas exchange as well.

Careful how much ... By: jmadden184. on 20 Apr 12, 19:31:42 Careful how much sand you put on top. You may end up killing a lot of life and/or creating dead spots. Corals are looking great and the aquascape looks great too! It's kind of weird that your RBTA wont come out of that hole and expand more, maybe it is getting blasted too hard by the MP10. Maybe move the MP10 closer to the surface? of the water to help get that "oily sheen" off the surface. Happy reefing!

goldfish live ... By: freshwatertanks. on 24 Sep 11, 16:49:13 goldfish live better in cold water and the rest prefer warm water.
Be very careful with your arow with the right diet they will grow 2 inches a month. To keep them happy they need lenght in the tank a min of 4x the length of the fish. Otherwise you may risk gill curl. but its more than that being kept in a small tank when young may stunt the growth or make him grow with a bad spine. not trying to be? a hater bud just dont want to see you dissapointed after you payed good money for him :)
