Your book might call for 1/4" and on 1930's roads it might be called for, today a 1/8" toe in will work fine. A1/4"? will work too, just scrub a bit more rubber off as you drive.

On solid axle vehicles he used to jack the front axle up, get the wheels straight and make a line on each tire in the middle with a piece of soapstone. This gave him a nice centerline to measure from and took any variation in the rims/tires out of the equation then he'd measure in front and back and set it at an 1/8th"

By: yourbeekeeper. on 04 May 12, 14:16:24 Hey Mr Impaller, Sorry I don't know the specs on the toe in, but the? rod would have stretched when it got bent, and even if you beat that rod perfectly straight again, it would be slightly longer. ..but you have a little bend it, which makes it slightly shorter... but then maybe the rod is a little weaker due to the bend and because the rod is located behind the spindle the force from the tires, when you drive, compresses and makes it flex and cause toe-out.now my head hurts, gotta sit down.

I was a machinist working at a shipyard and one of my jobs was to replace the brake shoe linings on these winches. I removed those pins much the same way you are, heat and lost of pounding with a sledge hammer.....

It's definatley not cheaper to buy the vegetables around here!!! LOL..We are on county water which? we were under a mandatory water restrictions for both yrs. When in drought they only allow so many gals per household. Anyway good luck with your garden. Take care. Rich

no doubt its probably cheaper to just buy them.. but I find no joy in that. haha.. drought.. you cant irrigate? guess that too would? be expensive if you are on city water.. I'm really spoiled.. I have irrigation shares that came with my property.. comes from a reservoir up in the mountains.. all the water I can use for 100 bucks a year.. one more reason to love where I live I think..

do you plant a garden Rich? we are just now frost free so we get a late start here.. only veggies I started in the greenhouse was peppers, maters and cukes.. we'll see how? they handle the transplant shock.. have more maters to set out but waiting on some gypsum to arrive..need to break up my clay soil.. im not a master gardener but I keep trying! haha..
